How To Paint An Eye

About this tutorial

Difficulty: Intermediate/Advanced
Panel Size: 8 x 12

I’ve always enjoyed painting figurative works and I knew that they would feature to some degree within my school. I spent a lot of time considering exactly what to paint and I settled on an eye, partly because they can be a challenge to paint but also because it seems there’s a fair amount of demand for eye painting instruction. I also wanted something a little different from the usual eye which looks directly at the viewer.

This lesson will guide you through the intricacies of painting not only the eye but also the skin texture and how to move from detail to the soft out of focus look. I’d encourage artists of all abilities to give this one a go as there’s something for everyone. Good luck and I look forward to seeing your work in the forum.
