Description: This is an alkyd oil painting on an 11 by 14 inch gesso primed, smooth ampersand panel, utilizing the techniques I have picked up over my first two tutorials (river and tree in field landscapes). I used a landscape format and added extra foxgloves, yellow flowers and daisies into the foreground and decided to remove the fencing posts and people from the composition and simplify the background hill and trees on the right and make the more distant trees on the left a greyer/bluer/more pastel green to give more depth so that the trees lit up by light coming from the right-side in the foreground would stand out more in lighter more saturated colours. I added a glimpse of a stony dirt path and some nettles on the right hand grassy bank. I decided to adjust the colour, so that it looked like the foreground trees were lighter (illuminated by the sun just as the storm clouds pass over - one of those fleeting moments before dark clouds fall on the landscape).
