How do you paint sunsets using oils?

Sunsets are painted using warm hues (colours) that are seen in the sky during the evening. Typically the colours are placed and blended to keep the sky soft. I feel that a landscape is often busy and so a softened sky is best, to not distract from the landscape. I plan on covering this subject at some point in the future in my Online Art School.
